Assignment #6: Masks and Symmetry
Masks
Little Petals
Sun of the Garden
Wholesome Vessels
It's Looking Rocky
An Angel Blossoms
Artist Statement: When I first think of color, flowers are immediately what are in my mind. So many beautiful blossoms unfurled this weekend in the rain. They all reach for the sky in every one of nature's colors. I tried to capture that beautiful, fresh beauty that only appears in spring. I went to my friend Natalie's house, and out back, I was happy to see that there was plenty of spring to capture in my camera.
Symmetry
Dark Side
Tangled
Birch Resting
Rise or Set?
The Octopus Strikes
Artist Statement: I love the way my symmetry photos turned out. The dark colors in Dark Side, Tangled, Birch Resting, and even a little in Rise or Set? have so much visual interest to me. My favorite is Dark Side. I don't even remember taking that photo—I must have taken it in the bushes behind my grandfather's barn. It totally floored me when I saw it in my camera roll, and I knew I had to use it. I didn't think it would be colorful enough for a mask; I'm so glad I trusted that judgement and used it for symmetry. I think it turned out gorgeous.
